Random Picker
Pick a random item from your list
Add one item per line. Names, words, numbers, teams, tasks and short phrases all work. The picker is designed for ordinary choices where every line should have an equal chance unless you intentionally repeat an entry.
One line equals one chance
Every non-empty line is treated as one entry. If Alex appears once and Jordan appears twice, Jordan occupies two positions in the list and therefore has twice as many chances to be selected. Remove accidental duplicates when every participant should have equal odds.
Secure browser-based random selection
The picker uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() source with rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. The winning list position is selected before the visual animation begins.
The animation does not decide the winner
The moving block grid is only a reveal. Frame rate, device speed and the moment an animation frame appears cannot change the already selected result. Users who prefer reduced motion can skip the animated reveal.
Pick without repeats
Turn on Remove selected item after each pick when you are choosing several different entries and do not want the same one selected again. This is useful for speaking order, team order, classroom participation and assigning unique positions.
Keep repeats when they are allowed
Leave the removal option off when every draw should use the original list. That works for repeated low-stakes choices where the same entry is allowed to win again.
Examples
For a presentation order, enter each speaker once, turn on removal and record each selection. When one entry remains, put it last. For a single lunch choice, enter each acceptable option once and make one draw. For intentional weighting, repeat an option only when the group has agreed that it should receive extra chances.
Privacy
Your list is processed in the browser and is not saved to a WordFinderHub account or server-side picker history. Refreshing the page clears the current entries.
When not to use this tool
Random Picker is meant for ordinary selections, not regulated gambling, legally controlled lotteries, security keys, medical decisions or other situations that require an audited or certified randomization process.
A first draw in three steps
- Enter Alpha, Beta and Gamma on separate lines. Check that the counter shows three entries.
- Decide whether the selected line should be removed. Leave removal off for a single choice.
- Choose Pick Randomly and wait for the selected result before editing the list or starting another draw.
Blank lines are ignored, while commas do not separate entries. Alpha, Beta, Gamma on one line is one option. The picker requires at least two non-empty lines to run.
Finish an order when one entry remains
With removal on, each completed draw reduces the pool by one line. When one line remains, use it as the final item in your order; the tool will not run another draw with fewer than two entries. If the same name appears on two lines, removing one winning line still leaves the other eligible.
Keep your own record
Copy Winner copies the latest result, not a full draw history. Record each choice elsewhere if you need an ordered list, and keep the original entries before resetting or leaving the page. The tool does not save a roster or restore a previous session.
